Job Description

Junior SEO Specialist (Web Developer Experience Required)

Company Overview: We're a digital marketing agency that helps high-end contractors (remodelers, landscapers, deck builders, etc.) grow their businesses through SEO, web design, and PPC. Our SEO team is led by a senior strategist. We're looking for a technically skilled Junior SEO Specialist to help implement the strategy and fix issues directly on our clients' websites.

Position Overview: This role is perfect for someone who blends strong front-end WordPress skills with a foundational knowledge of SEO. You'll be hands-on, handling technical SEO tasks and on-page optimization across client websites. You won't be expected to build full websites or lead SEO strategy, but you will be expected to spot problems, fix them, and execute the SEO plan precisely.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Audit WordPress websites and identify SEO issues (H1s, ALT tags, 301/404 errors, missing metadata, slow load times, etc)
  • Implement technical fixes yourself, don't just flag them
  • Add and optimize content using WordPress block or builder editors
  • Set up 301 redirects, resolve crawl errors, optimize sitemaps, and troubleshoot Google Search Console issues
  • Improve on-page SEO, including metadata, internal linking, heading structure, image optimization, and UX recommendations
  • Support local SEO efforts like Google Business Profile optimizations and basic link-building initiatives
  • Identify internal linking opportunities and create relevant, optimized links
  • Use tools like Ahrefs and Screaming Frog to surface and prioritize technical opportunities

Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of WordPress web development or front-end experience
  • 1–2 years of SEO experience (in-house or agency)
  • Strong understanding of HTML structure (can spot missing H1s or improperly nested tags in raw code)
  • Familiarity with technical SEO concepts: crawlability, indexing, status codes, redirects, page speed, and schema basics
  • Hands-on experience fixing issues, not just auditing them
  • Understanding of Local SEO fundamentals, including Google Business Profiles, citations, and review management
  • Experience with Google Search Console, Google Analytics, and basic page speed tools
  • Comfortable working on small business websites, especially contractor and service area businesses
  • Bonus: Ahrefs, SEMrush, or Screaming Frog experience

Soft Skills:

  • You enjoy getting into the weeds and solving problems
  • You don't need to be micromanaged once a task is clear
  • You communicate clearly and concisely, both written and verbal
  • You understand that good SEO requires detail, discipline, and follow-through

How Our Hiring Process Works:

  • Apply using the application here and submit your resume
  • 15-Minute Phone Interview
  • Preliminary Zoom interview
  • Strengths Assessment
  • Culture-fit interview
  • Practical interview
  • Reference and background check
  • Offer

We prioritize your long-term success and offer:

  • Comprehensive Benefits : CGN covers 50% of health and dental insurance and fully covers life insurance for our team members.
  • Financial Security: With a 401(k) plan and a company match up to 4%, we're committed to helping you secure your financial future.
  • Time Off: 36 total paid days off each year, including 25 PTO days and 11 paid federal holidays.
  • Continuous Learning: We invest in your growth, from industry certifications to training opportunities.
  • Client Profile: We work with high-end contractors, such as remodelers, landscapers, and similar trades. These are high-end, quality-driven, growing companies looking for long-term marketing partnerships.

Benefits:

  • Dental Insurance
  • Vision Insurance

  • Flexible Schedule
  • Professional Development Assistance
